Fast Day 15
Mountain of Influence: Media
Day 3 – Proclaim
Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound
General George S. Patton believed he was destined for greatness from an early age. When the German army broke through the American lines in the Ardennes, Patton saw and seized his opportunity for greatness.
Although panic had set in, Patton believed there was an opportunity to strike a killing blow. Some waivered and debated back and forth, but Patton understood the problem facing the Allies and created a plan to counterattack. Patton’s persistence and knowledge of the enemy led to the enemy’s eventual demise. Does this sound like something we should be doing?
How do we counter a mountain of great influence like media? One that can destroy and divide? We develop a counterattack! As Christians, we are the salt and light of the world. We carry the glory of God in us. We bring good news (the Gospel) to the poor. We set captives free as the Spirit leads us. Our counterattack is simple: BRING THE GOOD NEWS!
Your Turn
Prayer:
Father thank You for opportunities to bring the good news. Give me eyes to see and the strength to engage an enemy that would seek to steal, kill, and destroy. Strengthen me in Your word that I may counter any negative news with the good news of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
Fast Thoughts:
Meditate on Isaiah 61:1. Allow this verse to be your proclamation against any attack the enemy may try to throw your way. His word is a weapon, use it!
