Fast Day 8
Mountain of Influence: Education
Day 2 – Repentance
1 John 2:10-11 (NIV)
Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.”
A true education from the Lord teaches us how to love our friends, family and coworkers before it teaches us about the mysteries of our cosmos. Jesus said it best: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” Think of it this way, what good is it for mankind to travel to the moon if we still hate each other and continue to rebel against God?
The only way that we can take back the mountain of education is to show the world truth by walking in truth ourselves. It’s truth that causes correction. How can we change the world if we look like it? Even more, if we don’t love, we’ve missed God’s purpose for education.
We must live as a model of God’s truth. 1 John states that God is light, but if we say we have fellowship with God, yet walk in darkness, then we are liars and not living in truth. My question for you today is this: Have you been a beacon of light to the world because of the love you have for your brothers and sisters? Or have you been walking in darkness?
Your Turn
Prayer:
Father, we thank you that the light of your word shows us what we have been blind to. We thank you that we have an advocate, Jesus Christ, who is the atoning sacrifice for our sins. We repent today and commit ourselves to live according to Your word. Thank you that our sins are forgiven, and our light is restored.
Fast Thoughts:
Matthew 5:23-24. “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.”
