Fast Day 7

Mountain of Influence: Education

Day 1 – Worship

Genesis 1:3-4 (NIV)

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.

In 1919 the University of California Los Angeles was formed. Stamped as their school seal was this: a small sketch of a book magnifying the capital letter “A,” signifying the beginning of wisdom. Wrapped around that book a banner reading “Let there be light”.

I find it interesting that most American educational institutions such as UCLA were originally birthed from an understanding of God’s authorship of all things. This organization, which served to equip others in knowledge and truth, was founded from a worldview that put God’s word as the light for our lives. God was the foundation for all areas of study.

Fast forward 101 years and today UCLA along with many other notable institutions influence society with a humanistic worldview that emphasizes mankind’s ability over Gods sovereignty.

We live in a time when the mountains of societal influence such as education have been invaded. God says that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against unseen forces. The unseen ideologies of man have triumphed for far too long. God says today, “enough.”

As we face this mountain of influence understand: God is the author of all things and His light will be seen! The most intimate thing about this is He wants to use YOU to take back HIS mountain! NOW is the time. Let’s face this opposition and be the light that God has called us to be. Let us worship Him, the One who is over all education.

Your Turn

Prayer:

Father, we thank you that through Jesus Christ you have poured out your Holy Spirit of Truth upon us. Grace us today to lean into the gentle voice of your Spirit. Show us how you can use us a light that sits atop your mountain of influence. Allow us to boldly declare your word, which is truth.

Fast Thoughts:

Allow the Holy Spirit to show you any patterns that you have accepted as truth in your thinking. Surrender your perspectives and plans to him. Fasting breaks your yoke before it breaks the yokes of those around you.
