Fast Day 6
Mountain of Influence: Family
Day 3 – Proclaim
Deuteronomy 7:9
...your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations
Numbers 6:24-27
“‘The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.’”
Throughout the Bible we can see God revealing his heart through His utmost desire to bless us as his children, and the generations that come after us. In Numbers 6 we find God sharing His blessing with Moses, commanding him to teach it to Aaron so that he can in turn speak it over God’s people, the Israelites. The blessing was not meant to stay with Moses or even Aaron — but to be shared with God’s people and transcend generations. Because Moses and Aaron kept this command, we can recite this blessing today.
What’s more, we can follow this pattern of blessing others in manifold ways. God gave us his love through His living word so that we in turn can bless our families and those around us. As we read scripture, what we receive is to be imparted to those around us. Like Moses and Aaron, we are to declare blessings over our children, over our parents, over our siblings and neighbors and coworkers; to proclaim over the lost and the hurting, friends and strangers alike. May we each live in the Father’s love as we become living vessels of his blessings — poured into by God so that we can pour into others.
Your Turn
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing me immensely. Teach me more and more how to not just receive and hold onto your blessing, but to allow it to flow through me into others that I may bless them. In Jesus name, amen.
Fast Thought:
Create a running list of those you’re praying for and speaking blessings over. Then keep track of how God moves in their lives.
