Tithe = First 10% of all that comes into your household

 

A. The Tithe is established in Scripture  

Malachi 3:10 (NIV) 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 

1 Corinthians 16:2 (NIV) 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.  

2 Corinthians 9:10-11 (NIV) Promise - 10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

The Whole Tithe: Why 10%?

  • God owns everything/We manage what we are given - Genesis 1, Colossians 3, Psalms 2:4, Psalm 50

  • God gives us all we have/Giving back part of what we have been given – God is Not taking something from you! – John 3:16 God so loved the World that he “Gave” his only begotten Son

 

The Whole Tithe: Why is the Tithe to be given First?

Exodus 13:2 (NIV) 2 "Consecrate to me every " male. The “first” offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether man or animal…It’s the sign of your trust that the rest will be supplied

Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the “firstfruits” of all your increase; 10 So (then) your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine…it’s the trigger for his blessing/increase/ on your 90%- and I will rebuke the devourer (Malachi 3:8 NJK)
