Life of Generosity | 90 Day Tithe Challenge
Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
2 Corinthians 9:6 “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”
2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Conditions for generous heart:
You have to decide to give.
You have to give with the right motive.
You have to give from a place of joy.
2 Corinthians 9:8-11 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written, “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” 10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
Generosity Creates Space
2 Kings 4:8-10 8 One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. 9 She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. 10 Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.”
Generosity creates for others:
A ROOM – Space to encounter God
A BED – Space for the peace for God
A CHAIR – Space for the authority of God
A TABLE – Space for fellowship with God
A LAMP – Space for the revelation of God
Generosity creates for you:
Space for your needs to be met (2 Kings 4:11-17)
Space for God to revive what you thought was dead (2 Kings 4:18-37)
