Freedom | Week 1 | The Best You is a Free You

Big Idea: The best you is a free you

For the things that I want to do I don’t do. And what I don’t want to do that is what I do.  I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.  Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
Romans 7:15,18-20

 Why do we need God?

We gained the knowledge of good without the ability to do it and we gained the

Knowledge of evil without the strength to avoid

One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?” The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.”
Exodus 2:11-14

Luke 22:54-62 Peter denies Jesus

Acts 2:14 Peter addresses the people and thousands are saved

John 4:1-42 Many believed because of what Jesus said to that woman.

Freedom is not the absence of something, but the presence of someone.
