Israelites are at war with the Philistines – Goes on for 40 Days – Three oldest sons w Saul 

Jesse sends David Provisions – Everyone is Afraid – “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that defies the armies of the Living God”

King Saul – “You are not able to go out and face this man” – I have killed the lion and the bear, the same God who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine

His Armor – I am not used to it…can’t wear someone else’s armor - Five Smooth Stones 

Goliath-The physical embodiment of Threat, Intimidation and Fear- The Giants Christians Face  A type of Satanic Symbol - Imposing/Insulting Figure that elicits fear.   Lies/Accusation/Condemnation are his game- He wants to Blame and Curse you to Shame/Rejection unto Damnation-Reject God’s Love/Security – Loss of your Identity and therefore your Destiny-The Devil might not be afraid of who you are today but he is very afraid of who you may become because you encounter the TRUTH and the truth sets you free!  

4 Things the enemy doesn’t want you to Know

1. He and his ranks are not invincible, they may be extraordinary but they do have vulnerabilities, flaws and weaknesses. 1 Samuel 17:41 (NIV) 41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David.   He was slow and had difficulty seeing – The most common form of Gigantism acromegaly. You are not going to fight him on his terms-1 Samuel 17:44 (NIV) 44 "Come here," he said,… 1 Samuel 17:48-49 (NIV) 48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone.  Ancient Warfare - Calvary/Heavy Infantry/Artillery David was a “Slinger” – Archers/Slingers – Not a Sling Shot/child’s toy – Leather pouch, to long leather straps - 6 or 7 Revolutions per second, projectile “rock or led ball”.  Released at 100 ft per second – devastating weapon with amazing accuracy-Experienced Slingers could Hit/Maim or Kill at a distance of over 200 yards…hit birds in mid-flight. The rocks in the Valley of Elah weren’t average rocks they were Barium Sulfate with twice the density of regular rocks…do the calculations for ballistics for the rock fired from David’s sling it’s roughly the stopping power of a .45 Caliber Gun.  Put it right between his eyes! He wants you to engage him on his terms, nope…I am going to fight you will artillery.. Fast and Pray in the Spirit   

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV) 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

 

3. When he talks “smack”, you give it right back to him – Goliath: 1 Samuel 17:42-44 (NKJV) he disdained him; for he was only a youth, ruddy and good-looking., 43 cursed David by his gods. 44 "Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!"

David: 1 Samuel 17:46 (NKJV) 46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

6 Things the enemy hates to hear…below references only till number 4

Ephesians 6:10-18

  • The Belt of Truth (Luke 10:17-19)–This is the truth, you are bigger than me, but you are not bigger than God in me

  • Breastplate of Righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21) – God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on my behalf…you better back up before I have to call on his name…You know who is Lord and it’s not you

  • Shoes of Peace (Ephesians Chapter 2) – I have peace, you are about to get your piece  

  • Shield of Faith (Hebrews Chapter 11) – I am sure of your fate, and I am certain you won’t be here in the end

  • Helmet of Salvation (Revelation 12:11) – You know that I have already overcome you by the blood of the lamb and the word of my testimony …so don’t test me  

  • Sword of the Spirit (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) – I am praying in the Spirit, with the Word, now you are going to have to deal with those weapons      

4. The battle belongs to the Lord - 1 Samuel 17:47 (NKJV) 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD'S, and He will give you into our hands."
