Women/Mothers: Movement Makers

Progenitor: A person from which others descend or originate, a person who originates/starts a movement(s)…artistic, intellectual, societal, re-formational, spiritual movements.

  • Hannah was known for her confession to the Lord (1 Sam 1:27-28)…prized possession son Samuel

  • Jochebed was known for her courage in the Lord (Exodus 2:3)…sacrificed for her son Moses

  • Esther saved the entire Israelite Nation with her determination to Serve God in her day (Ester 4:14)…who knows “that you were born for such a time as this!”

  • Jael proved her power and eliminated one of God’s enemies “a Canaanite King-Sisera” (Judges 4:18-19)…Deborah prophesied that God would sell him into the hand of a woman for his own destruction.  

  • Elizabeth was known for her commitment to the Lord (Luke 1:6-7)…barren but she insisted on believing God…she eventually gave birth to John the Baptizer…predecessor to Christ  

  • Mary was known for her great communion with the Lord (Luke 1:38, 46-47, 2:19)…trusted the Lord and treasured the things spoken to her in her heart…received God’s incomparable glory in Christ Jesus!

Luke 8:19-21 (NIV) Now Jesus' mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you." He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice." 

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
