Who you are is what you do!

The Path to more Problems

Problems with Worldly Philosophies

1. Worldly Philosophies often hide the real issues
Co
lossians 2:8 (NIV) See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

2. Worldly Philosophies cause you to waste precious time
Psalm 90:12 (NIV) Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

3. Worldly Philosophies allow evil to multiply while you are preoccupied
1 P
eter 5:8 (NKJV)  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Satan wants to play the role of “Scar”in every believer’s life-who you might be

4.  Worldly Philosophies delay or in some cases destroy your destiny
1 T
imothy 1:18-19 (NIV)  Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.

Who you are!

Knowing who you are is the best way to know what you’re supposed to do!

1 Corinthians 13:4-13 (NIV) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.  Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.  And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

You are in Christ
Colossians 3:1-3 (NIV)
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

You are a New Creation/Creature
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

You are an Heir/Co-Heir
Romans 8:17 (NIV)  Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

You are a Son/Daughter of God
1 John 3:1 (NIV)
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

You are a Chosen Priest/Priestess
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

You are God’s Workman
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Who you are is what you do!

Acts 2:42 – These things mark the lives of Christians…Christians do these things!

1. They went to church
2. They prayed
3
. They gave-Teaching, Discipleship, Fellowship
4. They gathered in small groups

Not Condemnation (Rom 8) but Identification

30 - 40 – Committed Christian

20 - 30 – Average Christian

10 - 20 – Luke Warm Christian

0 - 10 – Nominal Christian

1 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV) 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales(add up the hours you spend on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or other media); rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training(work, house, project, entertainment) is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
