Fast Day 1

Mountain of Influence: Religion

Day 1 – Worship

Isaiah 2:2-3

'In the last days the mountain of the Lord ’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.”

Mount Everest is incredibly massive. At 8,848 meters, it towers 200 and 300 meters above the next two highest mountains. It rises above the horizon and forces airliners to go around its snowy peak. Thousands flock to Nepal’s Himalayas to either behold Mount Everest or to scale it. In reality, Mount Everest’s stature and presence swallows up and eclipses every other mountain of the world.

Yet there is a mountain that is taller, grander, and more expansive. Isaiah calls it the mountain of the Lord, and in the last days, like Everest, the mountain of the Lord will be exalted above all the hills.

We are in those last days. This mountain of the Lord is the kingdom of God. His temple is His church, all believers universally. God has placed us on His mountain to be light and love to the nations during these end times. And it all starts with knowing Jesus.

As we face these mountains of influence, take heart: the mountain of the Lord rises above them all. No other belief system, no other religion, or government system can stand. In fact, even your biggest “Everest” is eclipsed in the light of God’s presence. Our God is greater. Let’s look higher and worship our God.

Your Turn

Prayer:

Father, You are our God. There is no other. We love You and worship You. Thank you for placing us in Your kingdom, as your church through Jesus Christ our Lord. May we know you intimately and reflect You wholly to the nations in these last days.

Fast Thoughts:

When you fast, invite the Holy Spirit in and surrender your resolve and your plans to him. Fasting is not by your strength, it’s by his power. Allow Him to lead.
