Fast Day 1

Jeremiah 29:11-13

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Have you ever searched for something but couldn’t find it? That experience can be frustrating, discouraging, and disheartening. But today we begin our 21 days of prayer and fasting with full assurance that we will never be disappointed when we draw close to God. His promise is secure: as we seek Him, we will find Him.

The reason we pursue God is because God first pursued us, and that is why we have the desire to respond. Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them.” (John 6:44)

Prayer Focus

• Thank the Lord for pursuing you, and not giving up on you.

• Pray for a hunger and thirst to pursue God these 21 days, that He will take you deeper and further than you have ever gone before. ‘Not by might, nor by strength, but by My Spirit’ says the Lord of hosts (Zechariah 4:6)

• Pray for the persistence to seek Him until you find Him.

• Take a moment to pray for family/friends that God is still pursuing, that they will respond, and turn their life to Him (2 Peter 3:9)
